Coastal Community Health

In implementing our 4th Objective Improving community health of the lacustrine and coastal communities; we support and ensure the health and safety of residents of coastal communities in Tanzania through peer-led community outreach initiatives that promote critical thinking about health-related behaviors and support social norms that support good health. Women’s involvement in, safety at sea, seaweed farming, and fisheries management are only a couple of the themes that men, women, and young people are engaged in through interactive theatrical workshops, storytelling sessions, and small group discussions. Our strategy promotes widespread community involvement, for instance, by bringing up the subject of family planning with men and connecting food security issues to reproductive rights.
