John Kimaro is a marine biologist, co-founder, and treasurer of Aqua-Farms Organization. He has a passion for the conservation of coastal and marine environments while promoting the sustainable livelihood of coastal communities. Aware of the environmental challenges facing the communities such as the famous global climatic change, John anticipates the coastal communities to adapt to changes through innovative technologies and Nature-based solutions. Working with different communities across the seven continents John was able to channel those experiences to his community and collaborated with them in areas of community-based mangrove restoration, seaweed farming and value addition, and water quality management. John’s academic bragging points include a Master’s degree in marine biology from Zhejiang Ocean university in China, an advanced diploma in solutions for global water sustainability from the University of Antwerp in Belgium, and a Bachelor of Science in aquatic sciences and fisheries from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Also, he is Mandela Washington’s fellow 2022 cohort under leadership in business completed at Clark Atlanta University in the USA.
