Joyna James is an Open Water Scuba Diver and holds a Bachelor of Science in
Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries from the University of Dar es Salaam (2023). Building
on her academic foundation, she has gained expertise in socio-economic aspects
through her involvement in various survey projects. These include working with
Archway Consulting Limited on the Organic Waste Diversion Business Models and
the Dar es Salaam Green City Market Transformation Road Map, as well as
contributing to the USAID Lishe (Nutrition) Annual Outcome Survey.
During her undergraduate studies, Joyna conducted a research project titled 'Value
Chain Analysis of Seaweed Production in Mlingotini Village, Bagamoyo,' which
explored various stages involved in the production, processing, and distribution of
seaweed, and to determine how value can be added at each stage to improve the
profitability and sustainability of the seaweed.
Joyna is currently working with Aqua-Farms Organization as a Reporting and
Compliance Officer. In this role, she ensures that the organization adheres to all
relevant government regulations and supports the preparation of reports for project
evaluations and ongoing activities.
