Celebrating Tanzania’s Newest Dive Instructors

Newly certified assistant Dive Instructors; Husna Amimu and Mbonea Mdoe

Aqua-Farms Organization (AFO) announces the certification of Husna Amimu and Mbonea Mdoe as Dive Instructors through the Tanzania Divelab Initiative. Husna is the first Tanzanian female dive instructor from the initiative. This milestone advances Tanzania’s diving community and marine conservation efforts.

Their progression from Dive Masters to Instructors shows how well we are geared up for Tanzania Divelab’s mission of developing local leaders in marine conservation and sustainable diving. As instructors, they will train future divers, expanding Tanzania’s capacity for marine ecosystem protection.

This achievement is going hand in hand to support AFO’s Tanzania Divelab goal to certify 100 Dive Masters by 2030. Following the principle of “creating equitable access to the ocean for everyone, one diver at a time,” the program builds a network of skilled local divers committed to marine stewardship.

NEWF (Nature, Environment, and Wildlife Filmmakers) provided crucial support through training resources and mentorship, enabling this accomplishment. Asanteni Sana.

Husna and Mbonea’s certification highlights the impact of connecting local talent with development-focused organisations. Their achievement particularly inspires women to pursue diving and marine conservation careers.

The 2024 Tanzania Dive Lab is a collaboration between Aqua-Farms Organization , the Africa Refocused Program (newfcommunity x insidenatgeo ), the International Aquanautic Club, Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park and Segal Family Foundation

By 2030, AFO’s network of 100 certified Dive Masters will strengthen marine conservation, research, eco-tourism, and coastal livelihoods in Tanzania.
