Fadhili Malesa

Co-founding member

Fadhili Malesa is a Co-Founder and former Program Manager of Aqua-Farms Organization (AFO). Since then, he has been considerably involved in various aspects, including technical support in projects implementation. Currently he serves as an Assistant Lecturer at School of Aquatic sciences and Fisheries Technology (SoAF) of the University of Dar es Salaam.

He is a Marine Data Analyst and has more than 5 years of experience in the field of marine sciences focused on various aspects; fisheries ecology, marine ecosystems connectedness, climate change stressors and Ocean Mapping using GIS Techniques and Acoustic Technologies.

Fadhili attended several training and conferences includes:  GMES & Africa and Copernicus Marine Earth Observation Training Jointly organized by African Union Commission and European Commission in Zanzibar, the International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE-2) programme of the United Nations Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and the Department of Environmental Affairs of South Africa, and the Nippon Foundation/GEBCO Conference in Tokyo, Japan.

He holds an MSc degree in Marine Science (UDSM) and a Postgraduate Degree in Ocean Mapping from the University of New Hampshire, USA. His ambitions are to give back knowledge, skills, and experiences to the community in solving problems and improving society’s livelihood. His proud achievements include the successful completion of diverse marine fieldwork, collaborative research projects and consultancy services, and the publication of scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7021-0981).
