After three years of partnership with the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA), Aqua-Farms Organization (AFO) is honored to announce its full membership to ORRAA. This milestone signifies our dedication to ocean conservation, coastal community resilience, the sustainable blue economy and most importantly our commitment in building long lasting relationships.
AFO and ORRAA first partnered through ORRAA’s Ocean Resilience Innovation Challenge (ORIC) as one of its first winners. ORRAA has since supported AFO’s work to restore mangrove forests linked to building a carbon credit market and to establish microcredit and savings schemes for women seaweed farmers. This membership enables AFO to deepen its involvement in ORRAA projects, driving investment into coastal and marine natural capital and promoting sustainability.
AFO will gain access to ORRAA’s vast network and resources, fostering collaboration with governments, finance and insurance partners, as well as non-profits and stakeholders from the Global South This collaboration enhances AFO’s capacity to drive impactful action for communities, furthering efforts in ocean risk management and coastal resilience.
Joining ORRAA amplifies AFO’s impact, providing recognition and scaling potential of our projects like Blue Carbon credits for mangrove restoration and conservation in Tanzania as well as seaweed financing. Through this partnership, AFO will share knowledge, build capacity, and gain global visibility, attracting more partners and supporters. In the long run, aiming to drive significant investments into coastal and marine ecosystems, contributing to global goals by 2030.
This Alliance strengthens our shared mission to protect the ocean and support coastal communities against climate change and ocean-related risks.
